Altavas, Aklan – On February 8, 2023, a significant milestone was reached in the Municipality of Altavas as 25 deserving fishermen received motorized engines for their boats. This project, made possible through the leadership of Hon. Mayor Denny Dalida Refol Sr., was funded by the Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (BFAR). The distribution of these engines aims to provide aid to the fishermen who were affected by the damages caused by Typhoon Agaton on April 11-12, 2022.

The turnover ceremony, led by Mr. Emmanuel Tolentino on behalf of Hon. Denny D. Refol Sr., was a momentous occasion that brought together key individuals who played a crucial role in making this project a reality. Among those present were Mr. Jeoffry Gervacio – Municipal agriculturist, Mr. Roberto C. Mejia, and the staff of the Office of the Municipal Agriculturist.

The motorized engines for boats serve as a vital resource for the fishermen of Altavas. With these engines, they will be able to resume their livelihoods and regain their self-sufficiency in fishing activities.
