Altavas Veteran’s Memorial Shrine located in the upland area of Brgy. Lumaynay, developed and funded by the Altavas Historical Research Society Park.  The park has been declared as the number one “Pasyalanng Bayan” by the LGU.

The site was the exact location of the Headquarters of the Philippine Army during World War II with General Grasphil as a Commanding Officer. The Establishment of the Veterans’ Memorial Obelisk tower faces the lusty vegetation of natural forest of Lumaynay and offers a breath taking view of Tinagong Dagat. The park is currently undergoing more developments, with gazebos being constructed connected by concrete pathways to the center of the park.

General Ananias Diokno Shrine, another historical landmark, is found in Brgy. Dalipdip, located at the top of the hill overlooking the lush greenery of neighbouring barangays and the picturesque view of Tinagong Dagat and Dumaguit Port in New Washington. The bronze bust of Diokno, another national historical marker in Altavas, was erected by the National Historical Commission to commemorate the capture of Diokno by the Americans during the Filipino-American War in 1901.

Altavas town plaza located in front of Altavas Municipal Hall is a historical landmarkthat has been a central gathering place for the community for generations. Over time, the plaza has deteriorated and is in need of renovation to restore its beauty and importance to the community.

LGU Altavas allocated budget for renovation of the Altavas town plaza that involve several improvements that will enhance the aesthetic appeal and functionality of the area. These improvements include repairing and repainting the park benches, installing new lighting fixtures, and adding new landscaping elements such as flower beds and trees.

In addition to the physical improvements, the renovation project will also involve creating new spaces for community events and activities. This includes the construction of a new stage for concerts and performances, as well as additional seating areas for visitors to enjoy the events.

The renovation project did not only improve the appearance of the town plaza but also attract more visitors.
