Altavas, Aklan – The Local Government Unit (LGU) of Altavas and the Pambayang Pederasyon ng mga Sangguniang Kabataan (PPSK) ng Altavas joined the global celebration of One Billion Rising 2023, a movement advocating for women’s rights and an end to violence against women. The event, which took place on February 28, 2023, was a resounding success, thanks to the unwavering support and participation of various stakeholders.

   PPSK Altavas would like to express its heartfelt gratitude to the LGU, led by the highly supportive Municipal Mayor, Honorable Denny Dalida Refol Sr., as well as the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) Officer, Ma’am Gengia Alcorin Cleope, and Mr. Jeoffrey Gervacio, the Gender and Development (GAD) focal person. The commitment and dedication of these individuals played a crucial role in the success of the event.

The program was graced by esteemed resource speakers, including Ms. Dologs Abril, Program Officer of World Vision, and Mr. Gerold Rago from the Rural Health Unit (RHU) of Altavas. Their valuable insights and expertise shed light on the importance of gender equality, women’s empowerment, and the eradication of violence against women.

The Painting Contest, one of the highlights of the event, brought together talented aspirant artists from the 14 barangays of Altavas. The judges, namely Mr. Ronart A. Panuncio , Ms. Pamela Jade C. Baconawa, PLT Ryan S. Batadlan, and Chief Judge Mr. Pat Joei Y. Patricio played an integral role in selecting the winners. Their expertise and keen eye for art contributed to the success of the competition.

 To the SK Chairpersons who exhibited exemplary cooperation, and to all the active participants from the 14 barangays of Altavas, a sincere thank you for your enthusiastic participation. Your involvement and commitment to the cause of women’s rights and gender equality have made a significant impact.
